Our Townsville Physiotherapists and Ayr Physio’s treat a lot of knee pain.
If you feel lots of crunching in your knees or experience pain in the patella (knee cap) while using the stairs, squatting, kneeling or after sitting for a long time, you may have patello-femoral pain syndrome (PFPS). PFPS (also known as runner’s knee), occurs due to incorrect movement of the patella in its bony groove. Tightness in the muscles surrounding the knee normally contribute to this incorrect movement.
This condition can be treated with some hands on physiotherapy treatment and home exercises involving strengthening and stretching. If you think you have PFPS, please give us a call for more information at 4724 4444.
